The Knicks need to win to hold claim to the sixth spot. Knicks Amar'e Stoudemire AKA Stat is out with a sprained ankle, and equally Nets Deron Williams is out with wrist surgery. 'Melo, Douglas, and Fields will have make ground on the cross-town Nets. 

In terms of playoff position, the Knicks competition  is the Philadelphia 76er's "Sixers" who is only a half game behind and they are playing the Toronto Raptors (21-57) tonight. If the Knicks and Sixers win, the Knicks stay ½ game ahead. If Knicks win, and Sixers lose Knicks go to 1 ½ games ahead. If Knicks lose and Sixers win, Knicks go to ½ game behind the Sixers. The Knicks still have three games left after this, against the Indiana Pacers (36-43), then 1st place East Chicago Bulls (58-20), and then the infamous Boston Celtics (54-24).
